Masterson’s Lounge, situated in the center of Moonee Ponds , markets itself as a trendy “hipster” hangout , but my unfortunate encounter at this establishment turned into one of the worst experiences of my life . While the bar may appear inviting from the outside , what I experienced behind its entrance was appalling and beyond comprehension .
The State of the Venue : Filthy and Disregarded
From the moment I crossed the threshold, it was apparent that sanitation was not a priority at this bar . The floors were sticky , and a overpowering stench of old alcohol and filthy restrooms filled the entire establishment . With a smell of a mixture of urine , old age and a sickly smell. The bar area , which should be the centerpiece of any pub, was overflowing with soiled cups and refuse that looked like it hadn’t been touched in ages . The lavatory was in even a truly awful state— backed up, with a broken handle and walls covered in what I can only assume was fecal matter .

During my time there, I observed how tense several women seemed around Cornwell.
